Yellow Fever / Themed Shoot
On dry summer Squamish day like any other, Brianna Wilson and I embarked on a photography adventure at Fern Hill. Our mission: to capture the essence of Brianna's ascent on the stunning sport route known as Yellow Fever. Nestled amidst a backdrop of lush greenery, the route's name derives from the vibrant yellow lichen adorning the rock face. Though sometimes overlooked, Yellow Fever is a true power endurance test-piece that proves to be a hidden gem.
What set the tone for our shoot was when Bri stumbled upon an image of a man boldly climbing in a suit. Inspired by this unique concept, she decided to infuse her own brand of creativity into our little art project. Instead of the obvious use of a skirt, Brianna opted for a singular blend of adventure and fashion: a harness under a kilt. As she gracefully maneuvered up the wall, the contrast between the rugged terrain and her distinctive ensemble painted a vivid picture of individuality and strength. The kilt, evoking historical Scottish traditions, symbolized both audacity and a homage to the spirit of exploration. Against the backdrop of the Yellow Fever route, this juxtaposition created a captivating visual narrative.
A special thanks to Genevieve for belay, being impromptu hair stylist, and maintaining the fun vibes.
